CCI's Strategy

The
CCI technology and project development strategy follows a phased approach. Based
on the prospective environmental and economic benefits, we expect project
development to be actively supported by the stakeholders in the low-rank coal
industry, coal power generating projects and the oil refining industry, as well
as national resource and environmental advocates. Regional and local support is
expected based on the prospective expansion of this new domestic energy industry
that has the potential to provide significant economic expansion and meaningful
permanent jobs immune from outsourcing.
During Phase-1, 2005 to 2007, CCI developed an innovative, proprietary process
technology and process design for conversion of low-rank coal to synthetic crude
oil and clean-coal fuel for power generation. Several patent applications were
completed. A generic coal-to-liquid Reference Plant design was developed based
on a typical sub-bituminous coal resource and optimization based on process
modeling and economic optimization.
Phase-2 targets active project development of the initial commercial CCI
projects based on site-specific feasibility studies in partnership with power
generation companies, coal suppliers, oil companies, engineering & construction
companies and other financial stakeholders in the energy industry. This work
includes coal resource validations, process testing and demonstration.
Phase-3 targets the commercial development of several regional domestic
synthetic crude oil projects, and expanding project development activities
internationally.
Phase-4 targets project development for the expansion of domestic CCI synthetic
crude oil production to one million barrels per day and clean-coal-fuel for
60,000-MW power generating capacity.
